Our Time is Now!
We want to wish our community a Happy New Year!
And share some exciting news!
Your support has been so important to us. You have seen us start and grow our individual businesses, which has been no small feat! Kiah, the owner of Wilde Thyme, and Cat, the founder of Just Call Me Chef first met six years ago and instantly grew a friendship as we commiserated over the challenges we both faced as start-ups in the food industry. We have since been supporting each other whenever we can, dicing, slicing, or lifting things too heavy to lift alone. Many hands make for light work, and we are now committing to a new project called Our Time, so that we can extend that support to more people.
Our Time kitchen supports minority womxn* who want to build food businesses by lowering systemic barriers and creating access to resources in a supportive environment.
The Our Time kitchen model will create an affordable commercial kitchen space, mentorship opportunities, educational workshops, a to-go window, residencies, food truck rental, pop-up events, childcare, neighborhood CSA, and appliance, catering and equipment rental to support and develop small food enterprises in Baltimore.
Our vision is to develop a sustainable shared kitchen model that can be replicated throughout Baltimore, and beyond. We believe that collective ownership is a key component in small business development as well as neighborhood development.
Now more than ever, it is our time to create a space for ourselves, so that we may create a future where we can thrive. It is Our Time.
As we continue to build our business here are ways you can support us:
View and share our work! You can forward this e-mail, share our website, or follow us on social media!
Stay subscribed to this e-mail to follow our progress. We will be sharing different ways you can help us, everything from rehabbing our building, to crowdfunding, to ticketed zoom cooking classes, fundraisers and, once we are up and running, public events and an opening celebration!
Reach Out! Cat and Kiah are taking on a huge project. We believe that this is needed and we believe it will be successful. As we juggle the long building process we are open to any and all support along the way. Small things like a phone call or sharing a meal go a long way. Big things like donations, accounting aid, and skill shares will also help to reach our goals!
Here's to using the masters tools* to unlock a building, and then getting inside that building to tear down systematic oppression and build new life in this new year!
Wishing you warmth, full bellies, and love as we enter this New Year,
Cat and Kiah
